PORT LINE’S PIONEERING TRIO • Port Line operated some of the finest motor vessels of the 1920s and 1930s. Victor H. Young looks back at three of their best-known such ships, which entered service in the mid-1930s, built by yards on the Tyne and the Clyde.
MARITIME MOSAIC CHANNEL ISLAND FAST CRAFT • Condor began high-speed ferry operation to and around the Channel Islands in the 1960s. Car-carrying fast craft were introduced in the 1990s with the 74m Incat catamaran Condor 10 on the Weymouth-Guernsey-Jersey route, and later fast craft included Condor Express, Condor Vitesse and Condor Rapide.
